Vaculíková, Zuzana ; Mrkosová, Eva (advisor) ; Hádková, Kateřina (referee)
The topic of the thesis is communication problems of the majority of society and groups of deaf people. Deaf people also live in the majority of hearing society. These people meet each other and they can communicate with each other. This communication is problematic, however, because in the communication of deaf and hearing there are communication barriers. In this thesis, we used a quantitative method of the surveyed hearing respondents. We researched what communication problems exist in the communication of the majority society and a group of deaf people. Based on the methods used, we found that communication problems are mainly caused by a lack of awareness of the major societies of the group of deaf people. In this thesis, we propose to raise awareness of the majority of the hearing society about a group of deaf people, in order to eliminate communication problems. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Brainwashing and New religious movements
Madarová, Sara ; Vojtíšek, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Kostičová, Zuzana (referee)
My diploma thesis, called "The new religious movements and brainwashing", could be divided into two imaginary units. The first one is more general but technical. This part analyzes the term brainwashing as a whole, from a different point of views. The term brainwashing appears throughout the whole paper; from its formation, across the development, until its usage in everyday life. This contains the usage in media, advertising, and other spheres. This chapter should point out the importance of this topic, which is often forgotten. The second part of the thesis aims to contrast the book by Ted Patrick and Tom Dulack, which describes the term deprogramming. This term was allegedly invented for the new religious movement practices and brainwashing purposes. This chapter outlines the Ted's Patrick stances and gives an impartial reaction on it. The third part of the thesis is more of a narrative. It gives a fundamental explanation and typology of new religious movements, which connects the previous two parts. The following chapter clarifies the opposition theories. Nonetheless, it focuses on the anti-cult movements, but also the perception of media, the majority society, or a role of the state. This part of the thesis is vital in order to take a stand on the brainwashing itself. Its careless usage is an...

In this context, causes of growing tendency in international protection applicant and economic migrant numbers, but also responses caused by this fact, are being discussed. To enable a closer look at the multi-ethnic co-habitation character, there is secondary empirical data outlining the current situation of the majority´s relationship towards the ethnic and national plurality with regard to migration crisis given on the one hand, and determinants influencing the creation of different citizen attitudes on the other hand. Last but not least, there is some space left for chosen interactive education methods and didactic material based on them, which is useful when teaching about the controversial refugee issue in lessons of Civics.
U.S. and Canadian Anabaptist Communities' Interaction with Majority Society
Kolářová, Kristýna ; Calda, Miloš (advisor) ; Pondělíček, Jiří (referee)
The subject of this bachelor thesis is the interaction of Anabaptist communities with the majority society. For this purpose the paper focuses on the three largest communities in the United States of America and Canada - the Old Order Amish, the Old Order Mennonites and the Hutterites. These communities have the same origin in the sixteenth century reformation but they differ in many aspects. This paper will address particularly the interaction with the society, as the communities are advocates of isolation from the corrupted outside world. However, complete isolation is unrealistic, therefore the thesis examines in what areas of life the interaction occurs and at what level. Those are the main questions that this thesis seeks to answer. For a better display of the interaction in different areas of life, the main part of the paper is divided into four chapters pursuant to the areas in which interaction occurs the most according to the author. In each chapter the given communities are compared. The results of the research are evaluated in the conclusion. They include the fact that the Hutterites live in the greatest physical isolation because they are isolated geographically. That allows them to loosen the rules inside the colonies, like for example with technology and education. The highest level...

In the area of employment of Romas, Romany business-people represent specific subjects not only as self-employed people, but also as potential employers who ought to have the same starting position in the labour market. The bachelor thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The first one deals with basic terminology, information and facts about the background and the origin of Romas, the structure of this ethnic group as well as their development in historical context. This part also contains a description of the current state of Romany population in the Czech Republic, their position in the labour market, their relationship with the majority population, but also contemporary trends in the area of social work focused on the minority issues. The practical part focuses on the main goal, which was mapping social, economic and health attributes connected with the Romany business activity, especially in the context of social work. A partial goal was the analysis of possible problems connected with their business activity and the attitude of the majority to Romany business. With the means of in-depth non-structured interviews two issues were addressed: Is there a prevailing opinion in the target population that it is difficult for a Romany person to run a business, to get contracts and customers' trust? Do Romany businesspeople face prejudices in the context of their work activity, and if so, which ones? The studied group consisted of six people of Romany origin whose source of income comes from business or other form of self-employment. This work undertakes to attract attention to Romany businesspeople, who have taken fate into their own hands. The findings may be used in projects dealing with employment support of socially disadvantaged people as well as in monitoring social situation of Romany minority in the Czech Republic.
